On Saturday July 26th North American Fighting Championship once again put on an incredible fight card at The Rave Eagles Grand Ballroom. Fans from Milwaukee and surrounding areas packed the house to watch the top up and coming young MMA prospects showcase their skills for NAFC “Summer Slam”. The team of Combat Corner fighters on the card all performed well and helped make the night a memorable one.

On the amateur portion of the card James Clark of Roufusport took on Mark Kasdorf of Threshold Martial Arts in the feather weight division. Clark took his opponent’s back for most of the first round and controlled and dominated the round. In the second the two stood and exchanged a bit. And the third they were back on the ground for most of the round. Judges scored the bout and found James Clark winning by Unanimous Decision.

Also in the featherweight division Andrew “Grunt” Attebury of Roufusport squared off against Cipriano Sanapaw of Pura Vida BJJ. In the first Attebury worked from inside Sanapaw’s half guard landing punches and nearly securing a Darce choke before the end of the round. In the second Attebury got the fight back to the ground and continued to land strikes and look for submisions. The third went the same as Attebury continued to look to finish his opponent with a submission.  Judges scored the bout in favorite of Attebury as he picked up a Unanimous Decision victory.

In the Women’s Strawweight division Kali Robbins of Roufusport took on Shannon Goughary of NMMA. Robbins came out early with a flurry of punches got an early takedown and landed some ground and pound for most of the first round. In the second round Robbins and Guoghary exchanged shots for a bit before Robbins got another takedown and landed some more vicious ground and pound. In the third round Robbins continued to dominate her opponent as she got two more takedowns and continued to try and ground and pound her opponent out. The last few seconds of the fight Robbins landed a barrage of punches from full mount. Judges scored it a unanimous decision in favor of Robbins.

On the professional portion of the card “Nasty” Nate Jennerman of Roufusport faced off against Justin Echols in the featherweight division.  Nate definitely showed why here earned the nickname “Nasty” because that’s just what he was nasty.  Jennerman came out landed a few punches, got a takedown and in the scramble got ahold of Echols neck and sunk in a deep guillotine choke for the finish all within the first minute of the fight.

Also in the featherweight division Jordan Griffin of Roufusport went up against Anthony Flemming of MASH Gym. Griffin landed a few shots early forcing his opponent to look to take the fight to the ground. As Flemming shot in for a takedown, Griffin sprawled getting his opponent neck and sunk in a guillotine choke that forced his opponent to tapout in the first round.

In the Co-Main event of the evening Luis “Koolwhip” Garcia of Roufusport took on Kurt Dureen of FightPrimein the featherweight division. Garcia put on a dominating performance where ever the fight went getting the better of the exchanges in the stand up and on the ground and looked to be the better fighter, but one mistake and Dureen was able to get Garcia’s back and sink in a rear naked choke that forced “Koolwhip” to tap. Unfortunately Garcia didn’t win but showed a great skill set that continues to improve in each and every fight.
